Quick questions with quick answers in Florida personal injury cases: What is the “release” document that I am signing at the end of my accident case?

The release basically says that you are releasing the person or entity that you are making a claim against and you are promising not to sue those parties due to the accident. Thus, the release marks the end of the case. If a year later or a week later, you find out that you need more treatment or you just determine that you should have received more money and you sue the parties release, they will show the judge the release and ask to have the case dismissed (and absent coercion or fraud, etc., the case very likely will be dismissed). Thus, it is important for the client to understand at the time they are signing the release the significance of the release and that it marks the end of the case.
